We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow one of our engineering teams. This is a group of 7 engineers and you might get another team of 5 engineers as well. You will lead the close to 40 devs (many work remote) engineering team together with 4 other EMs reporting into the head engineering. You will be responsible for building a high-performing team culture, developing engineers, and ensuring the delivery of scalable, maintainable solutions that operate at huge scale globally.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will balance people management with technical direction. It’s not hands-on as in coding but you will be technically involved so a technical background is mandatory. While you should be able to write code, in the beginning your main focus will be on setting up solid processes, strengthening team accountability, and raising the overall engineering bar.
What you’ll do
- Develop engineers: Support career growth through coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback. Manage underperformance directly and challenge engineers to grow.
- Lead with impact: Start with a team of ~6 engineers, with the opportunity to grow into 2 teams (one focused on new initiatives, one maintaining existing systems until the new is ready).
- Increase accountability: Introduce quarterly planning processes, strengthen ownership within teams, and ensure engineers take initiative rather than relying on managers for direction.
- Shape technical direction: Contribute to architecture decisions, process improvements, and best practices. Raise the engineering standards across the board.
- Manage distributed teams: Effectively lead engineers who operate remotely and foster collaboration across locations.
- Foster innovation: Create an environment that encourages experimentation, learning, and technical excellence.
- Improve processes: Partner with other leaders to evolve how we work (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps).
- Guide culture: Champion collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What we’re looking for
- 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with proven success in building and scaling high-performing teams with ideally also remote team members
- 8+ years of professional experience as a software engineer with a strong technical foundation, ideally in Microsoft stack
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and grow engineers, while also managing underperformance directly
- Strong understanding of system architecture, SDLC, DevOps, and agile methodologies
- Experience setting up planning processes and driving accountability within engineering teams
- Proven track record of raising engineering quality standards and building ownership-driven cultures
- Cloud experience (Azure is a plus, but other providers are valuable)
- Ability to influence technical direction and architectural decisions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to align stakeholders across engineering, product, and business
Compensation
- Solid compensation and benefits with a permanent contract from the start
- International office exchange options
- An innovative environment where ideas can become reality
- Growth opportunities with support for continuous learning and development
Job details
- Senior ity level: Mid-Senior level
- Employment type: Full-time
- Job function: Science, Information Technology, and Other
- Industries: Technology, Information and Media, Software Development, and IT System Custom Software Development
