Legal Counsel - Amsterdam

Our client is a high-growth scale-up in the medical devices sector, developing innovative products that make a real difference to patients worldwide.

With around 50 employees and a collaborative culture, they are now looking for their first dedicated Legal Counsel to join the team in Amsterdam and take ownership of a broad range of legal matters.

This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-moving, mission-driven business at a pivotal stage of its growth. You’ll be working closely with the CFO, General Counsel, and senior leadership, covering a wide variety of commercial, regulatory, and strategic issues in a dynamic international environment.

Purpose

The Legal Counsel will provide hands-on legal support across all areas of the business, ensuring that contracts, compliance, and regulatory frameworks are well managed while enabling the company’s ambitious growth plans. The role will be broad and varied, requiring both technical legal expertise and strong commercial acumen.

Principal Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
• Advise on intellectual property, competition, disputes, and regulatory matters.
• Support the General Counsel and CFO on corporate governance and compliance.
• Provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice to senior stakeholders.
• Build scalable processes and frameworks for a fast-growing, international business.
• Manage external counsel where specialist advice is required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' experience
• Background in a leading law firm combined with in-house experience in the life sciences sector (medical devices or pharma essential).
• Fluent in both English and Dutch
• Broad legal expertise across commercial, IP, disputes, and competition.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to operate in a fast-moving scale-up environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
