Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team within a large-scale chemical manufacturing environment. This role is critical in ensuring safe, reliable, and profitable plant operations while safeguarding long-term asset integrity and reliability.
The Engineering Manager will oversee a team of engineers across disciplines including mechanical, integrity, reliability, electrical, rotating equipment, systems, and materials/corrosion. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of day-to-day scoping for maintenance, turnarounds, and project start-ups, ensuring engineering excellence and continuous improvement across all areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide functional leadership across engineering, maintenance, reliability, and integrity disciplines.
- Ensure asset integrity and long-term reliability through structured inspection, maintenance, and reliability programs.
- Oversee the planning and technical scope development of maintenance, turnarounds, and capital projects.
- Manage and allocate engineering resources effectively across plant operations, projects, and TA events.
- Drive continuous improvement through reliability programs, bad actor elimination, lifetime extension planning, and equipment assurance.
- Act as skill pool lead for hard engineering disciplines, ensuring professional quality, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Collaborate with global reliability and asset integrity functions to align with corporate standards.
- Support SHE initiatives, ensuring compliance in a high-hazard chemical manufacturing environment.
- Champion innovation and introduction of relevant technologies.
- Serve as a key member of the manufacturing leadership team, reporting directly to the Manufacturing Director.
Candidate Profile
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in the (petro)chemical industry, with proven leadership and managerial experience.
- Strong background in asset integrity, reliability, and maintenance management.
- Experience with turnarounds, maintenance strategy, and project execution in a chemical/process environment.
- Familiarity with SHE and process safety requirements in high-hazard industries.
- Excellent communication skills; able to influence across operations, maintenance, and engineering functions.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage but not essential.
- Flexible mindset — able to manage the demands of a 24/7 plant environment while maintaining a strong leadership presence.
