Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Lecturer in the Master of Arts in Translation Programme (MAT) in the School of Chinese (Ref.: 533296). The position is expected to commence as soon as possible and no later than January 2026, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Applicants should possess the following:
A Ph.D. degree in Translation or related areas;
At least 10 years’ post-qualification teaching experience at the tertiary level;
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum innovation, evidence in undertaking leadership roles in programme administration in higher education settings, preferably in MA programmes, and potential for scholarship in teaching;
Fluency in English, Putonghua and Cantonese. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
The ability to contribute significant breadth and depth to the MAT curriculum would be a definite advantage. Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following supplementary qualifications:
A portfolio in information technology and /or AI applications in translation and interpretation teaching;
Experience in developing practicum/ internship courses and activities;
Experience in managing a diverse student body and teaching team with both local and non-local backgrounds. The appointee will hold the functional title of Programme Coordinator with the following major duties and responsibilities:
Teach and assess a range of M.A. and B.A. courses and participate in academic advising for students;
Coordinate the MA courses and to supervise dissertations;
Support the MAT Director in team management and programme development, and mentor new teachers and junior staff where applicable;
Liaise with other institutions on curriculum development, teaching innovation, and the provision of similar courses where appropriate;
Serve on committees at the School/ Centre and Faculty levels;
Fulfill any other ancillary activities as assigned by the Head of School or the Programme Director. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview.
