Take Ownership

Getting our future users to be aware of bunq means showing them what free truly means – and how we can be a part of that. As Head of Engagement, you will own the full journey from first touch to monthly active user, leading the teams that activate, retain, and inspire our users worldwide.

  • Drive activation & onboarding: Design and optimize our onboarding journey to ensure every new user becomes an active, retained bunqer.

  • Grow monthly active users (MAU): Turn awareness into engagement by building strategies that maximize retention, minimize churn, and keep users coming back.

  • Push the boundaries: Partner with product, compliance, and marketing to challenge regulatory and technical limitations — always with the goal of creating the smoothest possible user experience.

  • Think big, execute fast: Tackle today’s tangible activation challenges while shaping the long-term engagement strategy for bunq globally.



  • Proven track record in driving Monthly Active Users growth and reducing churn in a consumer-facing product (ideally fintech or marketplace).

  • Experience owning activation and retention metrics (DAU/MAU, activation %, churn %) at scale.

  • Experience creating activation playbooks for new markets, especially where brand awareness is low.

  • Proven experience leading and scaling 40+ person cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable working at the intersection of growth, product, and regulatory teams to push boundaries while staying compliant.
