About SOMO and OECD Watch

researches multinationals. Independent, factual, critical and with a clear goal: a fair and sustainable world, in which public interests outweigh the interests of companies. We conduct action-oriented research to expose the influence and unprecedented power of multinationals.

The network, hosted by SOMO, is a global network of civil society organisations with more than 130 members in over 50 countries. OECD Watch undertakes a range of activities, all centred around empowering communities, individuals, and workers to use the (OECD Guidelines) and (NCP) system to effectively achieve remedy for corporate misconduct. We are committed to raising international standards for corporate accountability.

Key activities and responsibilities

The position will involve working with OECD Watch’s secretariat based in the Netherlands.

  • Assist (research and editorial) with publications (factsheets and reports) focused on corporate accountability, the OECD Guidelines, NCPs, and/or linkages between the OECD Guidelines and mandatory due diligence initiatives
  • Support the maintenance of OECD Watch’s online of complaints filed by civil society to NCPs
  • Assist in OECD Watch’s communications, including by preparing webpages and newsletters
  • Assist with management of OECD Watch’s , including growing the network’s membership and communications with members
  • Assistance organising (online and/or in-person) events and (internal/external) meetings, and draft meeting reports
  • Support to the OECD Watch secretariat as needed
  • Requirements / skills

  • Affinity with the mission of SOMO and OECD Watch
  • Enrolment in a relevant Bachelor or Master’s degree (for example, law, human rights, international affairs, communications)
  • Excellent command of English
  • Legal ability to work in the Netherlands
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, while also being a good team member
  • Knowledge of another language, including Dutch, French, Spanish or Portuguese, is an asset

  • An internship of 24 hours (3 days / week) for between 4-6 months with SOMO from mid-May 2023
  • Flexible working hours
  • A stipend of €550 based on 40 hours / week
  • Possible additional stipend for travel and other costs
