Since its inception, EIT InnoEnergy has screened more than 7,000 start-ups, launched more than 300 products to market and overseen its portfolio companies filing 290+ patents. Today, EIT InnoEnergy has a 200+ strong team with offices across Europe and in Boston, US.

The Role

Today EIT InnoEnergy has one of the largest climate tech investment portfolios worldwide with more than 180 investee companies. We are looking for an energetic and strong Controller Investments who wants to join EIT InnoEnergy in their exciting, challenging journey to become the leading engine for innovation and entrepreneurship in sustainable energy. The main responsibility of the Controller Investments is to support and manage the valuation and reporting process of our investment portfolio. In this role, the Controller Investments needs to interact with multiple stakeholders including the local Finance teams, the local Investment and Innovation Management teams and the company Portfolio Management team. In addition, the Controller Investments assists in periodic close and reporting processes.

As the Controller Investments you will report to the Financial Controller and liaise with other finance colleagues in 7 regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cooperate with local Finance and Innovation teams to ensure accurate and complete monthly reporting.
  • Assist in the periodical review of our investment portfolio to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting information.
  • Assist the quarterly investment valuation process, which includes preparation of internal valuations and supporting valuation processes performed by third parties.
  • Preparation of the monthly cash flow forecast.
  • Monthly review and reconciliation of the grant cycle and assess impact on our investment portfolio.
  • Assist in the monthly financial closing process and preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements.
  • Assist with annual statutory audit and other audits.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of information flow, system functionality, and reporting capabilities.
  • General admin and other ad hoc tasks belonging in a finance department.
  • The Person

    You are an eager, accurate and hands-on finance professional with a solid technical accounting background. You enjoy working in an international and diverse setting and drive continuous improvement. You are self-starting and can organize your workload independently. You have a stable person, critical mindset, and a go to person within the company for investment related topics and questions.

    Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Finance or Business Administration.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst, certified accountant, or similar qualification (or in course) is a plus.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in financial accounting / controlling, preferably in an investment setting.
  • Good understanding of IFRS and Dutch GAAP. Relevant technical knowledge of and experience with financial instrument valuations is a plus.
  • Good understanding of the energy and climate tech markets.
  • High attention to detail and a critical mindset.
  • A self-starter who is persistent and can solve issues with minimal guidance.
  • Being able to communicate with employees of all levels within the organization in an international environment.
  • Being able to handle periods of high volume and short deadlines.
  • Eager to learn and to grow within the organization.
  • Good knowledge of the English language, both verbally and written
  • Good working knowledge of Excel
  • This position is based in EIT InnoEnergys office in Eindhoven. An EU work permit is required. Within InnoEnergy we have embraced hybrid working (50-50).
