VNG International is the International Cooperation Agency of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG). We design and manage large and complex projects for donors such as the World Bank, the European Commission and bilateral donors. Being part of VNG, one of the oldest and strongest local government associations in the world, our roots in local government are deep. It is second nature for us to work at both the technical and political level of local government.
We are also actively involved in European and worldwide networks of local government organizations. The combination of these two characteristics enables us to cross-fertilize and to provide services for clients which better suit the needs of the beneficiaries. It is part of our identity: we are of, for, and together with local governments.
Projectomschrijving
VNG International has an office in Somaliland. The goal of VNG International is to strengthen local governments and, in turn, the country through various projects. The aim of the project associated with this vacancy is to conduct research into the strengths and weaknesses of the activities of the VNG office in Somaliland. This includes current and past practices. It is a strategic review with an analysis of the impact of previous projects and the current position of VNG International in Somaliland. To embrace the mission of VNG International in this project, the student will collaborate with a student from the University of Somaliland to foster a deep understanding of the culture in Somaliland.
