ASM ALSI is a subsidiary of ASM Pacific Technology Ltd (ASM PT) which is the world’s largest assembly and packaging equipment supplier and the world’s third largest surface mount technology (SMT) equipment supplier. ASM ALSI develops technology, processes and machines for multi-beam ultra-violet (UV) and infra-red (IR) laser dicing and/or grooving applications. In addition, ASM ALSI develops new processes and technologies for thin wafers such as Ultra Short Pulse laser and Plasma etching processes.

Job description

The system engineering department is responsible for development and engineering and has mechanical, electrical and mechatronics engineers. They work in close cooperation with the R&D, software engineering and process engineering departments.

As a Senior Vision Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and engineering of advanced vision and alignment systems for the LASER1205 product line and the future LASER1206 platform. You will use your knowledge and expertise to lead the technical development of the system according to the product development roadmap. You will work closely together with the R&D and Software engineering departments in specifying system requirements, design specifications and test-procedures. You are the expert and knowledge owner on vision and alignment systems. After the design and engineering phase, you develop prototypes, drive the solutions towards production release and support to our customers in using the functionalities. You will be reporting to the System Engineering Manager.

Desired skills and experience

  • You have a M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in one of the following fields: Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering;
  • You have a at least 5-10 years of relevant work experience in industry or a Ph.D. in the field of Computer/Machine Vision;
  • Experience in the field of Computer or Machine vision is a must;
  • You have experience in developing computer algorithms and programming and, preferably, have worked with Matlab/Simulink;
  • You have experience with writing system requirements and specifications, building prototypes, and conducting performance tests;
  • You have the ability to plan, schedule and coordinate engineering activities;
  • You have a result-driven attitude and good communication skills;
  • You are willing to travel occasionally to customer sites to deliver third-line support and get customer feedback on our vision and alignment systems;

  • Owner of system level features and specifications in the field of vision and alignment;
  • Requirements engineering for system-level functionalities;
  • Cooperating with and aligning with the R&D and SW engineering departments;
  • Engineering, prototyping, testing and verification on the most advanced laser separation systems in the world;
