As a chef, you’ll be working alongside around ten colleagues throughout the restaurant. You’ll be responsible for preparing delicious dishes according to set instructions regarding ingredients, recipes, and procedures, because the Indian kitchen has so many flavorful dishes to offer! It’s important that you have experience working as a chef so you know what’s expected of you. However, experience with Indian cuisine or specific dishes isn’t required. The owner is happy to teach you all the tricks of the trade. He’ll personally train you for six months until you can manage everything on your own, and that’s a fun process! Once you’re fully familiar with the kitchen, you’ll also have the freedom to get creative with the menu and suggest changes or improvements.
There are two shifts, and these can be scheduled to fit your preference. So if you’d rather work from morning to afternoon, that’s possible, but if you prefer evening shifts and watching the sunset while you cook, that’s also an option. The morning shift starts at 9:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM. The evening shift begins at 4:00 PM and usually finishes around 10:00 PM.
During your shift, you’ll be doing a variety of prep work such as washing, chopping, cooking, and mixing ingredients. You may also be responsible for ordering supplies and managing stock.
