We are currently seeking a Team Lead Design Control to take charge of critical engineering oversight in advanced naval vessel programs. In this strategic role, you’ll be responsible for guiding the design control function across all stages of development and production—from concept through to delivery. This includes a wide spectrum of specialized areas such as hydrostatics, weight management, compliance with regulations, acoustic and vibration control, hydrodynamics, preservation, welding, and vulnerability analysis. Working in collaboration with engineering and project teams, you will drive consistency, excellence, and timely execution throughout the lifecycle of each project.

As the Design Control Team Lead, your core duties will involve:


 Steering and mentoring a focused team of engineers during both the preliminary and detailed design phases of high-specification shipbuilding efforts.
 Organizing daily tasks and setting mid-range plans to ensure team alignment with project goals.
 Keeping a close eye on manpower budgets, compiling progress metrics, and guaranteeing that outputs meet quality benchmarks on time and within scope.
 Leading internal and external design evaluations to uphold technical integrity.
 Coordinating any required support for testing, integration, or commissioning related to project deliveries.
 Ensuring all technical deliverables conform to contractual and legal specifications.
 Playing an active role in fostering continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and process refinement within the department.
Functie-eisen
 A technical bachelor's or master’s degree, with at least five years of hands-on experience in a comparable engineering role.
 Solid familiarity with ship design processes, especially in the context of defense or complex maritime systems.
 A proven ability to manage well-structured engineering packages, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards.
 Strong communication skills in both English and Dutch, across written and spoken formats.
 The following key competencies: customer focus, collaboration, results orientation, adaptability, quality mindset, strong planning and organizing abilities, leadership presence, and the ability to coach and motivate others.
 Positive references, with the understanding that a security clearance is a mandatory step before employment due to the sensitive nature of the projects.
 Mandatory: Permanent EU citizenship and an EU passport. Unfortunately, applicants with only a work visa, or with dual citizenship involving a non-EU passport, do not meet eligibility requirements due to the secure nature of the role.
